Volunteering

Welcome to the website of the Shelby County United Way. This is our 53rd year of serving the citizens, organizations, and companies of Shelby County. Over this period of time the needs and issues in our community have changed but the volunteers, staff and Board of Trustees continue to be committed in making a positive impact for all of our citizens' quality of life. Our theme this year is A Community of Helping Hands. Our vision is to identify, evaluate, and make possible the human services in our community, and our mission statement is to lead collaborative efforts in building a better community.

Today the Shelby County United Way collaborates and funds many nonprofit agencies and organizations in the community. These agencies serve people of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest in the impact areas of Investing in Children and Youth, Strengthening Families and Individuals, Promoting Health and Well Being, Enriching the Lives of Seniors, and Caring for People in Crisis.

2010Campaign Slogan :

The Board of Trustees has approved the campaign slogan of “A Community of Helping Hands” as our theme for this year. As our current economic situation has affected many families and individuals, what better action can we do as a community as to extend that helping hand to our neighbors and friends during these stressful and uncertain times.

As depicted in the United Way trademark, a caring hand symbolizes the services and programs supported by United Way. By Living United, a chorus of Helping Hands has and will come forward representing the hope of a better life possible through the United Way.
