In 2013, the Shelby County United Way helped fund a Community Wide Needs Assessment with the Shelby County Health Department, Wilson Memorial Hospital, and the Tri-County Board of Recovery to identify key priority issues in Shelby County. Three public forums were held share the findings. Today, the United Way is collaborating to address the critical needs from the assessment. This includes the partnership with the Salvation Army Kids Corp to have an afterschool program each night of the week. This partnership will include the Shelby County Counseling Center, The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA and Council On Rural Services R.S.V.P playing significant roles.
The Shelby County United Way is starting our 57th year of serving the citizens, organizations, and companies of Shelby County. Over this period, your trusted donations have made significant impact in the lives of Shelby County citizens of all ages. Today, 27 agencies and programs receive United Way funding and all change lives in the impact areas of Health, Education, and Income. Separately, Shelby County United Way offers Special Project Grants available to 501 (c) 3 non-profit agencies in Shelby County throughout the year to assist in one time projects or programs.
